Job Description

What you can expect as a PDI/Vehicle Technician:

  • 42.5 – 45 hours a week
  • Monday - Friday + alternating Saturdays
  • 8am to 5:30pm with 1 hour break
  • Alternating Saturdays 8am-1pm
  • Salary between £30,000 - £40,000 - Dependent on experience and qualifications
  • Individual time save bonus at 95% efficiency
  • UNCAPPED Individual Time Save Bonus
  • Performance related SUPER bonus up to £4000

The Role of a PDI/Vehicle Technician:

  • Carry out services on specific makes and models of vehicles
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on customer vehicles - such as oil changes, fluid level checks, and tire rotation
  • Conduct in-depth visual inspections of new vehicles for any signs of damage, defects, or missing parts.
  • Full mechanical check of all components, including engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension systems.
  • Test all electrical systems, such as lights, indicators, wipers, and infotainment systems, to ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • Perform any necessary software updates to the vehicle’s onboard systems 
  • Check and top off all essential fluids, including engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and transmission fluid.
  • Perform Road tests to identify any issues that may not be apparent during stationary inspections, and to check any repairs carried out are now working correctly
  • Use diagnostic tools to check the vehicle’s electronic control units (ECUs) for any fault codes or issues.
  • General maintenance and repairs
  • Install any additional accessories or features requested by the customer, such as GPS systems, roof racks, or custom interiors
  • Plan and keep up to date records of repair procedures using charts manuals and experience.
  • Complete all required documentation, including PDI checklists, warranty information, and service records.
  • Test the functionality of parts and systems once repairs are completed

PDI/Vehicle Technician Requirements:

  • NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI certifications required to Level 3 or Level 2 accepted with a minimum of 5 years services
  • Hold a full valid driver license.
  • Previous dealership experience would be beneficial but not essential
